When equipped with optional Bunting Metal Detectors, Grinder / Shredder Feed Conveyors are designed to catch both ferrous and nonferrous metal contaminants in virgin and recycled plastics, regrind, and rubber before they damage equipment or ruin product. Grinder Feed Conveyors are built to handle normal loads and for use with grinders. For heavier loads and materials, specify the more robust Shredder Feed Conveyor.
Conveyor Length: Standard units are 10 feet long and come in standard belt widths from 12" to 48". Other lengths and belt sizes are quoted on an individual basis.
Belts: Standard belting is flat Black EconoPac 120 with plastic staple lacing. V-Guided belts, belts with PVC cleats for inclined applications, and other belt colors and styles are available on request and at extra cost.
Side Guards: 6: side guards are provided. They have wipers over the edge of the belt to prevent material from getting under the belt.
Motors: Base unit is a 3/4 hp, 115 VAC motor and right-hand reducer. Larger motors and variable-speed drives are available to support larger conveyors, faster speeds, and heavier loads.
Motor Controls: No motor controls are provided with the basic conveyor. Optional motor starters with push-button on/off can be ordered for single-speed use. Order VFD controllers for variable-speed flexibility. |

SL-COIL DETECTOR SPECIFICATIONS
General Description:
An economical flat, low-profile detector for lower volume applications that installs directly under the conveyor belt to detect metal contaminants in bulk materials. Capable of detecting a 1/4" nut at a maximum distance of 4" from the coil surface.
Housing:
Steel coil housing and composite board surface
with antistatic coating for the coil interior surfaces.
Detector Coil:
Triple coil, high frequency metal detection system with Product-Effect Compensation,
EMI/RFI filter.
Electronics:
Single electronics board for optimum reliability and
ease of maintenance. 03 version – factory preset
digital electronics.
System Requirements:
110/240 V, 1 Ph, 50/60 hz.
On-Board Self Diagnostics:
Ensures all components are
functioning properly. In case of a fault, relay outputs
can signal belt to stop, alarm/light to go off.
Options:
(1) Reject counters, Alarms and Manual reset. (2) Reject
chutes or blowoffs.

S-COIL DETECTOR SPECIFICATIONS
General Description:
A second flat, low-profile detector detector for lower volume that installs directly under the conveyor belt. The S-Coil is similar to, but more sensitive than, the SL-Coil.
Housing:
Steel coil housing and composite board surface with
antistatic coating for the coil interior surfaces.
Detector Coil:
Triple coil, high frequency metal detection
system with Product-Effect Compensation, EMI/RFI filter.
Electronics:
Single electronics board for optimum reliability and
ease of maintenance. 05 version – factory preset
digital electronics.
Estimated Sensitivity:
Depends on the product being run – but more sensitive than the SL-Coil.
System Requirements:
110/240 V, 1 Ph, 50/60 hz.
On-Board Self Diagnostics:
Ensures all components are
functioning properly. In case of a fault, relay outputs
can signal belt to stop.
Optional Alarm Combo:
NEMA 4 combination
audio/visual signal to be activated upon detection of
metal or a fault event. Alarm is reset manually on touchpad
of detector or by a reset button in separate enclosure.
Signal is mounted to control plate or control cabinet.

C-COIL DETECTOR SPECIFICATIONS
General Description:
A digital tunnel-style detector designed to sense metal particles in bulk or packaged product. Tunnel opening, coil size, and the resulting sensitivity are determined by product depth on the conveyor.
Housing:
Painted Metal coil housing and composite board with antistatic
coating or P.P. Coil interior surfaces.
Detector Coil:
Triple coil, high frequency metal detection
system with Product-Effect Compensation, EMI/RFI filter.

|
Estimated Sensitivity:
Depends on the product being run – see chart.
System Requirements:
110/240 V, 1 Ph, 50/60 hz.
|
On-Board Self Diagnostics:
|
• Auto balance – system automatically detects
and compensates for environmental factor changes.
|
| |
• Self monitors itself continuously to assure reliability. |
Optional Alarm Combo:
NEMA 4 combination audio/visual
signal to be activated upon detection of metal or a
fault event. Alarm is reset manually on touchpad of
detector. Signal is mounted to control plate or detector.
Aperture Size for C-Coils
The theoretical sensitivity of a given metal
detector is determined by the aperture size. The smaller
the aperture, the smaller the piece of metal that can
be detected. The smaller dimension of rectangular apertures
is used to calculate the sensitivity, although the length
also contributes. So don’t select an aperture
larger than needed for your product flow.
Location of the Metal
The position of the metal inside the aperture
also effects the sensitivity. The centerline axis is
the least sensitive point and therefore this is where
performance testing should take place. As metal gets
closer to the sides (Belt Surface), the signal it generates
gets larger, making it easier to detect.
