Finally, decide about the self-cleaning option. Manual Self-Cleaning Plate Magnets save time and labor and make routine cleaning much easier. When you turn the handle to the open position, the plate magnet is free to swing away from the chute and from the special separately hinged face plate, as illustrated below.

This releases the tramp iron and fines for collection. Choosing this option will limit your choice of face styles to tapered step and flat face.
