<![CDATA[Bunting® Magnetics Featured in The Wichita Eagle]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/118 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/118 BY DAN VOORHIS
The Wichita Eagle

NEWTON — If you think magnets are just for sticking report cards to the refrigerator, think again. Magnets have a surprising number of industrial applications, and Bunting Magnetics is using them to build a prosperous future.

Owner Bob Bunting said the company’s sales so far this year are up about 30 percent over last year.

Exports are one of the keys to its growth. The Newton company is one of the finalists for the Governor’s Exporter of the Year award.

Bunting bought an English company, Magnet Applications Group, in 2008 to expand its product and geographic range.

About 120 of the company’s 190 employees work at two facilities in Newton. The rest are plants in the Chicago area; DuBois, Pa.; and Berkhamsted, England.

Bunting brought in consultant Clem Ast, founder of Legasus Group, to help the company’s leadership fine-tune its strategy for growth.

Ast said Bunting is moving aggressively, but thoughtfully.

“They’re in a unique niche and extremely good at what they do,” he said.

Industrial applications

The magnet products made in Newton all have industrial applications.

Magnets often are used to pull metal fragments out of product streams, be they recycled plastic, textiles or ground beef. For instance, powerful magnets can be built into the rollers used in conveyor belts.

The Newton plant uses both traditional magnets and the more expensive, more powerful ones made of exotic metals called rare earths.

The company makes and sells all kind of magnets for general use from its Chicago-area facility. They are available at buymagnets.com.

Magnets, of course, only pull out iron and steel, but the company builds a range of metal detectors that shunt off non-ferrous metal scraps from product streams.

Its fastest-growing market is for equipment to pull any metal in streams of industrial plastic waste recycling.

“We love plastic,” Bunting said.

It also builds the magnetic cylinders used to hold metal plates on certain kinds of printing presses, the kind that print directly onto aluminum pop and beer cans.

“You probably can’t get a two-piece can that didn’t get printed using magnetic printing cylinder, and Bunting does most of those,” Bunting said.

The company makes a wide variety of products in relatively small batches and routinely customizes them. That means the company doesn’t really have a production line. The factory has some stand-alone stations, where skilled workers build nearly the entire product, and there are common operations, such as the paint shop and shipping.

“We’re really more of a job shop,” Bunting said.

In the family

The company was founded by Bob Bunting’s father, Walter Bunting, in 1959 in Chicago.

After moving the company four times in the Chicago area, Walter Bunting started looking for a new site with plenty of land.

“We had a house in Lake of the Ozarks, so Newton wasn’t that big of a stretch,” he said. “We bought 7 acres of land. Newton has been a pretty good location for us.”

The plant now has two building on 101 acres.

Bob Bunting has worked at the company since the 1960s, worked full-time since 1973 and as president since 1993. He has done pretty much every job in the company, but his strength is sales, he said.

“My parents didn’t take long to figure out that Bob didn’t belong in the shop,” he said. “I love going out in the shop, but I haven’t worked there since I was 20 years old.”

His son, Robert Bunting, is a salesman for the company based in Chicago.

Having a son come into the business is a source of great pride for Bob Bunting. A sign bearing a photo of Walter on one side and Bob and Robert together on the other side hangs above the factory floor.

“It’s hard enough to make it to three generations,” Bob Bunting said, laughing. “I don’t have any control over the fourth generation. That’s up to him.”

Export growth

Bunting said the future looks bright. His staff is working at its limit, and he has hired eight to 10 people this year.

The plant in England is now starting to make traditional Bunting products for the European market. It’s gotten orders from Russia, Italy, France and Germany.

Exports make up about 15 percent of the company’s sales, he said.

Bunting said he also looked at outsourcing some production to China, the source of the company’s rare earths. He already has a sales office in Ningbo, near Shanghai.

“Last year, I would have said yes,” to adding production in China, he said. “But this year, the answer is no, because of rising costs.”

China is just not that cheap anymore, he said. For example, a load of rare earths that cost $86,000 in December cost $220,000 in May.

But the Newton-based company continues to thrive in its niche, seeking new products and new countries for its magnets. He is looking for acquisitions, although he has to be careful, he said.

So far, he said, the company has hit a pretty good groove.

“We’re seeing good growth,” Bunting said. “This is our best year, by far.”

<![CDATA[Eddy Current Separator Launched by Bunting® Magnetics]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/111 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/111 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has designed and created a new Eddy Current Separator (ECS) as part of our expanding Material Handling product line. Our ECS product features an innovative rotor which maximizes gauss intensity on the belt surface and provides superior separation of non-ferrous materials.

“Our history of creating the highest quality products in the industry has now been extended to include Eddy Current Separators,” stated Robert J. Bunting, the company’s owner and Chief Executive Officer. “This addition to our product offering gives us the ability to provide complete systems for recycling operations around the world. Beginning with our powerful magnetic separation equipment, Bunting® now offers a diverse lineup that includes magnets, metal detectors, conveyors, magnetic pulleys and more. From start to finish, we can help our customers achieve a high rate of recovery for recycled material and protect their processing equipment as well.”

Superior Engineering

The Bunting® ECS core is designed to provide a high level of gauss intensity to enhance separation on a wide range of nonferrous materials and part sizes. It is protected with the tough urethane belt and a carbon fiber epoxy shell. From aluminum cans to kitchen pots and pans, our ECS units do an excellent job of throw and separation.

“Our clean, low profile streamlined design has been crafted by using advanced magnetic finite element design software to optimize the gauss flux density in the working area above the belt,” Don Suderman, Bunting® Product Manager for Material Handling said. “The combination of a powerful rotor and compact design optimizes the eddy current forces, separation efficiency and product throw.”

Our ECS attains a high recovery rate and provides our customers with cleaner materials, which is the bottom line result everyone is seeking. Also, the eccentric core is designed to be rotated to provide the most effective amount of product throw based on the material and application being used.

“Our Eddy Current Separator is ideal for multiple recycling industries,” stated Suderman. “This includes plastics, glass, e-Scrap, mixed metals, incineration and auto shredding. For municipal solid waste operations, the ECS can reach a 97% recovery rates of aluminum cans from co-mingled recyclables.”

Maintenance Friendly

One of the key design features of the Bunting® Eddy Current Separator is how easy it is to maintain. Our efficient design includes a drop down side panel which can easily be lowered by one person for a quick and easy belt change. In fact, only one tool is required to loosen the belt, drop the side panel, replace the belt, re-track the belt and be back up and running in minutes!

The rubber lagged inverter duty motorized drive pulley at the in-feed provides for exceptional driving force, variable speed drive and a clean out-of-the-way design. It is easy to work on when needed and it provides a variable 100 to 300 fpm belt speed to maximize your separation. The ECS drive comes complete with two variable frequency drives (VFD) to program the ramp up of starting the machine.

Built to Last

The ECS unit has the highest quality urethane endless belt with 1 ½” urethane flexwall and three (3) sweeper cleats to help kick off ferrous contamination. In addition to the flexwall, the ECS has a secondary brush seal outside the flexwall which serves as a double seal of protection to prevent material from getting inside the conveyor frame.

Bunting® ECS units are available in 24”, 36”, 48” and 60” widths and 96” long. The 24” wide may be common in the Glass Recycling industry and the other three sizes in Municipal, Plastic, E-Scrap and Metal Recycling Industries depending on the capacity requirement.

Splitter Box

<![CDATA[Bunting® Offers Rebuild Program for Printing Cylinders]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/107 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/107 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has introduced a Cylinder Rebuild Program to repair and restore magnetic die cutting and folding carton cylinders. This new program can refinish all surfaces to meet exacting customer specifications.

“At Bunting® Magnetics Co., we take great pride in the craftsmanship of our products. We have an acute attention to detail and a burning desire to produce superior products,” stated Mike Wilks, Bunting® Product Manager for Printing Products. “This focus on detail extends to our rebuild program. We have considerable machining capabilities and over 30 years of experience in making the best cylinders in the world. These skills allow us to rebuild a cylinder to most exacting quality control levels.”

Our technical services include: replacement of cylinder bearers; repair or replacement of damaged magnets; restoration of bent or damaged journals; installation of hardened races and complete refinishing of the surface of the cylinder. As part of the rebuild process, there is an inspection of new parts prior to the cylinder being reassembled. All new bearers are installed to manufacturer’s specifications to ensure proper fit and prevent premature failure. Some rebuild work is limited as cylinders must have enough material on them to permit repairs within the cylinder’s specified tolerance ranges.

Another facet of the Bunting® Rebuild Program is our on-site Plant Audits. These extremely detailed visits include a visual inspection of all cylinders in stock. All surfaces, bearers and journals are inspected for damage or imperfections. We determine the average size of the cylinder diameter in relation to the bearer diameter to allow for gap analysis. This exercise is conducted to .00005 of an inch. Also, we perform a run-out test on all journals, bearers and the body of the cylinder to determine any deviations from specifications. Finally, a full report is provided with all the necessary details including gap. We identify all cylinders that may need repair by serial number.

For more information on our Rebuild program, please visit www.buntingmagnetics.com or write Bunting Magnetics Co., 500 S. Spencer Avenue, PO Box 468, Newton, KS 67114-0468; call 1-800-835-2526 (US & Canada) or 1-316-284-2020; or send e-mail to cylinders@buntingmagnetics.com.

<![CDATA[Bunting® Introduces Groundbreaking New Flexible Die Coating]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/75 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/75 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has developed an unrivaled new coating for its Flexible Die product line called Repel™. This economical coating provides a clear, non-stick finish that repels the most aggressive adhesives.

“The Repel™ coating keeps the die very flexible and prevents adhesive or label material from embedding in the cavities of a die,” stated Mike Wilks, Bunting® General Manager for our Flexible Die Division. “It won’t flake off like other coatings do, giving our customers less downtime and better die cuts.”

Repel™ gives Bunting® clients a strong silicone-based layer of protection for many different applications. Many tag and label manufacturers will use different types of foam in the production line to keep material from sticking in the cavity of the flexible dies they are using. The Repel™ coating reduces the need to use foam in some applications and helps manufacturers create a cleaner production environment and reduce their total cost. This coating is also suitable for cold foil applications. It reduces the likelihood that thin foil material will stick in the base of a die. The silicone base of the coating enhances foil release, from the tight fit typical of these applications.

The Repel™ coating gives Bunting® a diverse range of coating options to offer our customers. Bunting® also has available our Diamond and Black Diamond coatings which increase the hardness of our flexible dies to a level not measured by the world-renown Rockwell Scale for Hardness. Our customers have four choices to chose from because our standard process is to 100% chemically nickel harden our dies.

“These coatings allow our flexible dies to run four times longer than ordinary dies,” stated Wilks. “The Diamond and Black Diamond coating process makes our dies highly resistant to cracking and chipping which helps quadruple the life of the die. Combined now with the Repel™ coating, it allows Bunting® to offer our customers the best combination of magnetic die cutting cylinders and flexible dies available.”

Our Diamond branded coating is the perfect choice for die cutting thermal transfer label stock. It makes our dies very resistant to corrosion. Our Black Diamond coating is the ideal choice for reducing die lifting. It increases the performance for small, tight corner die cutting applications including die cutting stamps. The Black Diamond coating creates lower friction which allows a flexible die to be used with aggressive adhesives without gumming up the dies. Thus, it gives a printing operation more flexibility to offer their customers.

For more information on these Flexible Die coatings, please visit www.flexdies.com. For information on the rest of Bunting’s full product line, visit the company’s web site at www.buntingmagnetics.com or write Bunting Magnetics Co., 500 S. <![CDATA[Bunting® Introduces Quick Cleaning Center-Flow Magnet]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/74 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/74 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has developed a new Center-Flow Magnet that is easy to clean. This new design reduces the pressure drop through the housing and can be cleaned in seconds.

“Our new design allows for quicker cleaning than our older models and other models on the market,” stated Rick Bigham, Bunting® Product Manager – Magnetic Separation. “Also, other pneumatic inline magnets on the market can experience pressure drops that negatively affect the performance of a production facility. Our unique design is ideal for dilute-phase operations because it maintains product velocity and integrity with no appreciable drop in pressure.”

The new design maintains a 15 psi rating for all types of dilute-phase pneumatic or gravity-flow conveying lines. It also features a one-piece gasket that improves sealing along the production line. This eliminates leaking which other models on the market can experience. Bunting® Center-Flow Magnets are engineered to remove ferrous fines as well as larger pieces of tramp iron from dry particulates. To achieve optimum contact with the product flow, a torpedo-shaped magnet is suspended in the centerline of the housing. This tapered, exposed-pole cartridge has a stainless steel “nose cone” to direct the flow of material around the magnet. The exposed poles provide superior holding force.

In addition, the poles are tapered to provide a static recess area where small metal fines can collect and hide out of the air stream to avoid wipe-off. The trailing end of the magnetic cartridge is an active pole, and any tramp metal that might be swept down will be collected on the “protected” end of the magnetic cartridge. The magnet housing features a hinged cover which opens exposing the magnet. The magnet is removed from the housing and is cleaned by wiping the tramp metal down the cartridge and off the end.

An optional clear sight glass is available which allows the operator to see inside the housing without opening the cover. The Center-Flow Magnet is available with Ceramic or Rare-Earth magnets.

“It can be installed easily in any position or angle with factory supplied compression couplings,” stated Bigham. “This means it can be installed in vertical or horizontal piping. Customers should strongly consider factors such as line size and pressure, product characteristics, and ease of cleaning when selecting placement for these magnets.”

For more information on our new Center-Flow Magnet, please visit www.CenterFlowMagnet.com. For information on the rest of Bunting’s full product line, visit the company’s web site at www.buntingmagnetics.com or write Bunting Magnetics Co., 500 South Spencer Road, PO Box 468, Newton, KS 67114-0468; call 1-800-835-2526 (US & Canada) or 1-316-284-2020; or send e-mail to bmc@buntingmagnetics.com.

<![CDATA[Bunting® Offers Innovative New Cylinder]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/70 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/70 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has introduced a new magnetic printing cylinder featuring a revolutionary new spiral formation. This design, which has curved magnetic rows, provides superior holding power and makes the installation and removal of dies very smooth. The spiral design allows the cylinder to be used on both die cutting and printing applications.

“This is the next evolution for magnetic printing cylinders,” stated Mike Wilks, Bunting® General Manager for our Flexible Die Division. “Our new Magnetic Spiral Cylinder will give our customers the best holding power in the industry. Also, our unique design dramatically reduces the chance that a die will be damaged when being removed from the cylinder.”

The patent-pending spiral layout ensures that a plate will always fall on a magnetic field. When a press operator is pulling the plate off the cylinder, the new Bunting® Spiral Cylinder will release the plate smoothly and avoid any costly kinking of the die. This contrasts to other regular cylinders which typically have a dead zone that can cause a die to snap and crease. With the new Spiral Cylinder, even short dies that are not “full wrap” will always land on a magnetic field.

These cylinders are built to the same exacting tolerances as our X-treme® cylinders. That means they will provide a total run out accuracy below 40 millionths of an inch (1 micron), best in the industry. The Magnetic Spiral Cylinder is built with a Total Indicator Reading (TIR) of +/- 1 micron.

Bunting® uses powerful magnets which lock dies in place so that they do not lift or shift. Our X-treme® cylinders significantly increase die life, reduce false starts and make clean cuts even on 1-mil stock with less than 1-mil liners, on “no-look labels and on synthetics.

For more information on our new revolutionary Magnetic Spiral Cylinders, please visit www.spiralcylinders.com. <![CDATA[Bunting® Develops New Design for Magnetic Cross-Belt Conveyors]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/65 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/65 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has developed an innovative new design for its’ Magnetic Cross-Belt conveyor product line. This new design features structural enhancements, an improved magnetic deep-reach circuit and tramp metal deflector shields that increase the protection of the belt.

“Whether you are recycling plastic, tire & rubber, wood, metals or e-scrap, these materials can be very abrasive on the belt and can easily get under the belt and onto the face of the magnet which can cause havoc,” stated Don Suderman, Bunting® Product Manager for Material Handling. “Our new design features UHMW wings that extend over the bottom side edges of the belt to protect it from tramp metal tears.”

Also, this new wing design seals the edge of the belt and keeps tramp metal from snapping to the side of the conveyor frame or getting under the belt. This protection against material getting under the belt reduces any hindrance to the operation of the conveyor. As additional protection, Bunting® has further surrounded the magnet being used with a heavy-box stainless steel frame.

“Within any recycling facility, our Cross-Belt Conveyors will make a large impact on the efficiency of the operation in that facility,” Suderman stated. “Our new magnetic circuit provides maximum separation effectiveness of tramp metal for municipal recycling and higher product purity in a shredding recycling operation.”

<![CDATA[Bunting® Announces New Comprehensive Warranty Program]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/63 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/63 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has created a new protection and support program for our Metal Detection product line named the Pro-Series™ Protection Plan. This three-stage program is designed to provide superior performance beginning at the installation of the product through the life of the metal detector.

“We recognize the importance of highly reliable, accurate and cost effective metal detection products to our customers’ business,” Fred Fishman, Vice President of Operations for Bunting® said. “We want to support our customers’ objectives and feel that this exclusive program will maximize up-time for their operations.”

The Pro-Series™ Protection Plan features three options for customers to use; Pro-Start™, Pro-Maintenance™ and Pro-Warranty™. Each option is designed to provide specific services to optimize the performance of Bunting® metal detection equipment.

Pro-Start™ covers start-up support for new equipment. A factory-trained Service Technician is on-site during installation to properly calibrate the metal detector and train customer personnel. This program also features an extension of the original one-year factory warranty to two years and provides two full years of phone-based technical support.

“Pro-Start™ allows us to help our customers get their equipment functioning perfectly from day one,” stated Rod Henricks, Bunting® Product Manger for Metal Detection. “There are a variety of environments our metal detectors are used in, some of them harsh, and it is crucial to have on-site assistance during the initial start-up and use of the machine. “

Pro-Maintenance™ offers two choices for our customers, a Gold Plan and a Platinum Plan. For the Gold Plan, our Service Technicians will visit our customer site once a year to service and calibrate the metal detector and upgrade software, if necessary. Also, it gives a 15% discount on

labor and a 10% discount on parts for any needed repair work. For the Platinum Plan, there are two yearly service calls and the discounts increase to 25% for labor and 15% for parts for repair work. Both options provide two years of technical support and on-site training for factory personnel.

Pro-Warranty™ gives customers the ability to extend their factory-authorized warranty coverage for up to a full five years from the installation date. This option is only available at the time a Bunting® metal detector is purchased. This cost-effective coverage includes all repair parts and labor is included when an on-site visit is required. Pro-Warranty™ also provides the latest software updates, expedited shipment of spare parts and additional discounts for any new metal detector purchased during the warranty period.

“A great benefit of our Pro-Warranty™ program is that it protects our customers from costly emergency expense,” Henricks said. “In any manufacturing operation, there will be situations that cause downtime and cost money. This program helps to guard against those issues by providing fast service and it locks in expenses. One year of our Pro-Warranty™ coverage is about half the cost of one replacement board for a metal detector.”

The Pro-Series™ Protection Plan also offers additional services including repairs for out of warranty equipment, calibration service calls to make equipment audit-ready and our Board Replacement Program which provides Control and Display boards by the next day if ordered by 2:00 PM Central Time.

<![CDATA[Innovative New Magnetic Lifting Tool Offered by Bunting®]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/58 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/58 NEWTON, KS – Moving steel and iron around within a manufacturing operation or metal fabrication business has been simplified with the introduction of the MagFORKLift by Bunting® Magnetics. This great new device works in conjunction with any type of Fork Truck to easily move up to 1,100 pounds of material.

“The MagFORKLift is ideal for any business that either lacks an overhead crane or their crane doesn’t cover certain areas of their operation,” stated Don Lindstrom, General Manager for Bunting’s Magnet Materials Division. “Either way, the MagFORKLift can handle the situation and get the metal or iron where it needs to go.”

The MagFORKLift attaches to the two forks on any Fork Truck and works in conjunction with four different sizes of Bunting® MagLift™ Hand-Controlled Lifters. MagLift™ Lifters are designed to save time and labor by holding, carrying, and releasing loads more efficiently than any other manual or mechanical method. These easy-to-use Lifters attach to the MagFORKLift simply and quickly and get their holding power from powerful permanent magnets and do not require special cables or costly electrical hookups.

The MagFORKLift and MagLift Permanent Magnetic Lifters can safely handle many different shapes and sizes of loads. <![CDATA[Bunting® Introduces New Flexible Die Coatings]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/32 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/32 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has launched two new coatings to be used with our Flexible Die products. These options, Diamond and Black Diamond, increase the hardness of our flexible dies to a level not measured by the world-renown Rockwell Scale for Hardness. Also, the new coatings now give our customers three choices to chose from because our standard process is to 100% chemically nickel harden our dies.

“These coatings allow our flexible dies to run four times longer than ordinary dies,” stated Mike Wilks, Bunting® General Manager for our Flexible Die Division. “Also, this new coating process makes our dies highly resistant to cracking and chipping which helps quadruple the life of the die. This expanded product offering allows Bunting® to offer our customers the best combination of magnetic printing cylinders and flexible dies available.”

<![CDATA[Bunting® Designs High Temperature Machine-Mounted All-Metal Separator]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/23 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/23 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has designed and created a new High Temperature Machine-Mounted All-Metal Separator (MMS). This metal detection product, which can handle temperatures up to 350º degrees, works on applications within the plastics industry by mounting on the throat of extruders, injection and blow molders.

The Bunting® High-Temp Machine-Mounted All-Metal Separator provides efficient rejection of both ferrous and nonferrous metal contaminants. The MMS is designed especially for choke-feed applications where the product is at a higher than normal temperature. It bolts directly to the in-feed of processing equipment and supports the weight of hoppers and other auxiliary equipment. A fast pneumatic rejection mechanism aided by precise timing results in accurate cycling and conservation of good material.

“We have seen a significant increase in the number of applications with dryers that emit temperatures up to 350º degrees,” stated Joey Reed, Bunting® Product Manager for Metal Detection. “There are very few metal detector manufacturers providing this type of unit. So, we felt it was critical to meet this rising demand.”

This product features a rugged housing and a unique slide gate reject design which eliminates contaminant “leaks”.

<![CDATA[Bunting® Launches New Dragslide Conveyor]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/22 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/22 NEWTON, KS – Bunting® Magnetics Co. has launched an addition to its industry-leading material handling product line. Our new DragSlide conveyor is designed to convey difficult thin mil shredded plastic films and light fluffy fiber materials created during different types of manufacturing applications. Bunting’s DragSlide conveyors are an excellent way to positively convey this type of material which typically clings to belts and gets carried around and rains on the floor below a belted conveyor.

“Whether you are conveying 500 pounds per hour or 12,000 pounds per hour, our DragSlide conveyors can handle these difficult materials,” stated Don Suderman, Bunting® Product Manager for Material Handling. “It will keep the floor around your equipment clean of shredded plastic. Also, the conveyors are totally enclosed except for the in-feed hopper and the discharge chutes both of which can be sealed to the adjacent equipment.”

The Bunting® DragSlide conveyor works on the concept of dual chain driven UHMW flights which drags the shredded material inside the enclosed conveyor frame. Our Heavy Duty DragSlide Conveyors are designed in the same shapes and configurations as our Standard Grinder Feeder Conveyors. Our “Hockey Stick” DragSlide conveyors are designed to fit under the Shredder or Grinder discharge and convey the material up and out. Straight horizontal or inclined DragSlides are designed as a positive conveying means to any location around or across your plant.

Optional strong Rare Earth Plate Magnets can be installed in the DragSlide Conveyor’s discharge chute to help further purify material from any ferrous scrap metal.

<![CDATA[The XTractor™ Offers Superior High-Volume Metal Separation]]> http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/5 http://www.buntingmagnetics.com/news//view/5 The XTractor™ Metal Separator is the newest addition to the Bunting® Magnetics Company lineup of world class magnetic separation equipment. The XTractor, which features a self-cleaning magnetic drum separator, provides continuous separation of ferrous and non-ferrous material for recycling purposes.

Any manufacturing operation that is producing scrap can use this new application in their operation. In particular, Fabrication and Machine Shop Operators can experience dramatic bottom line profits. Since 2003, the prices for scrap have risen dramatically. Our XTractor™ Metal Separator allows for the proper segmentation of ferrous and non-ferrous material. By separating these scrap materials into distinct groups, recycling facilities will offer higher dollar value per pound for the clean separated material. This allows any company to earn significantly larger revenue when the separated scrap is sent for recycling.

“In today’s economy, you need a competitive edge in every part of your manufacturing operation. Bunting® Magnetics Co. and The XTractor™ can help your company have a huge, positive impact on your bottom line,” Charles Whitt, Bunting’s Director of Marketing stated. “Prices have skyrocketed for scrap and The XTractor™ allows our customers to take advantage of those market prices and turn their scrap into cash. In fact, one company has seen their investment pay for itself in just six months!”

The XTractor™ separates scrap from a variety of machines including Stamping and Punch Presses, Torch or EDM machines, Lathes and Milling equipment. The unique Bunting® drum separators contained in the XTractor™ are especially well suited for the separation of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

The XTractor™ is custom made to suit the customers processing rate requirements. Typically, standard units feature either a 12” diameter x 12” wide drum surface which can process up to 1,500 lbs. per hour or a 18” diameter x 24” wide surface capable of 2,500 lbs. per hour. Options include a custom made work stand to allow easy processing of the scrap and a XTractor rake for funneling of the scrap into the separator.
