Expansion Continues: 1979 to 1989
Kansas proved to be fertile soil for Bunting® Magnetics Co. The pattern of increasing sales and profits continued into the 1980s, interrupted briefly by the recession of 1982. To increase its competitive edge, Bunting® spent over a million dollars on plant modernization and the installation of laborsaving computer systems.
Its management and sales force developed and implemented a more organized approach to marketing the expanding product lines. Bob Bunting took on greater responsibility as the company’s marketing chief, and the company expanded its trade show exhibition schedule and devised a more aggressive marketing strategy. New advertising and sales literature brought Bunting® permanent magnetic products to the attention of new markets from coast to coast. New catalogs simplified selection and ordering for customers, and new procedures for handling sales leads enhanced the effectiveness of sales efforts.
